Day 1; Arriving in Kigoma and Transferring to Mahale Mountains National Park
When you arrive at Kigoma Airport our representative will warmly welcome you. Help with all the arrangements. From there you’ll begin on a boat transfer, across Lake Tanganyika to Mahale Mountains National Park. Take in the views of the lake. Surrounding landscapes during this boat ride. Once you reach Mahale the park rangers and staff will greet you. Check into your lodge situated along the lakes shoreline. After settling in feel free to take a walk along the beach or simply relax while enjoying the scenery. In the evening join us for dinner. Receive a briefing on the safari activities planned for your upcoming days.
Day 2 – 3; Exploring for Chimpanzees in Mahale Mountains
These two days are dedicated to one of the highlights of your tour. Exploring for chimpanzees in Mahale Mountains National Park. After breakfast you’ll set out with guides and trackers on exciting chimpanzee treks. Venture through forests as you follow trails left by habituated chimpanzee groups. As you explore this park let yourself be immersed in natures symphony of sounds while keeping an eye out for other fascinating wildlife species, like red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and an array of birdlife.
Firstly locate the chimpanzee group. Take the time to observe them in their habitat. Watch their interactions, behaviors and even listen to their vocalizations. Your guide will offer insights, into their behavior. Explain the importance of conservation efforts. These personal encounters with the chimpanzees are truly unforgettable.
While staying in Mahale Mountains you’ll have opportunities for activities like nature walks, birdwatching and boat safaris on Lake Tanganyika. The parks diverse landscapes and abundant biodiversity make it perfect for exploration. In the evenings return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation surrounded by the atmosphere of the park.
Day 4; Leaving Mahale Mountains National Park
After enjoying breakfast bid farewell to the awe inspiring Mahale Mountains National Park. You’ll begin on a boat transfer to Kigoma where you’ll be taken to Kigoma Airport for your tour. Take one glance at the scenery of Lake Tanganyika as you reflect upon the incredible experiences and memories created during your tour of Mahale Mountains.
