Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is the oldest and the most renowned national park in the whole of Tanzania, as well as a world heritage site that recently self-proclaimed as the 7th natural wonder of the world.  The Serengeti is famous for its yearly migration that involves about 6 million hooves matching across these open plains, with over 200,000 zebras plus 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles joining the millions of wildebeests trekking in search for fresh grazing areas. even when this migration is not in these plains, the Serengeti offers without a doubt the most amazing game views in Africa with numerous buffaloes, elephants and giraffe, in addition to thousands and thousands of different antelopes such as the Grant’s gazelles, elands, impalas, topi and kongoni.

The sight of predator together with a great profusion of prey dominates this amazing park. Prides of the Golden-maned lions feast on the large quantity of plain grazers, while the Solitary leopards survey the acacia trees that line River Seronera, and a large number of cheetahs hunt the southeastern plains. Special about this park is that the 3 species of the African jackal are found here, together with the spotted hyenas and a several other hard to pin down predators, including the serval cat and the aardwolf. Serengeti offers a lot more than just the large mammals. The Gaudy agama lizards plus rock hyraxes scuffle within the park are normally seen on the remote granite koppies. There are over 100 species of dung beetle recorded here, together with more than 500 bird species, that range from the very big ostriches and bizarre secretary birds in the open grasslands, to the black eagles seen calmly flying over the Lobo Hills.

As continuing as the game viewing is the invigorating sense of room that characterizes the Serengeti Plains, extending across the sun-burnt savannah to a gleaming golden horizon to the end of the globe. Still, as soon as the rains end, this golden area of grass is changed into an endless emerald carpet with wildflowers. And then there the wooded hills plus imposing termite mounds, fig trees lining the rivers and the acacia woodland.   Although the Serengeti is a well traveled destination, because of its great vastness you could be the sole human audience to witness a pride of lions plan a siege, focused reliably on their next meal.
