In the afternoon explore the city of Kigali, where you can visit markets, museums and cultural sites. Immerse yourself in Rwandas history, culture and the resilience of its people. Indulge in a dinner at your hotel before resting up for the safari adventure ahead.
Day 2; Volcanoes National Park. Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Start your day with a breakfast before departing from Kigali towards Volcanoes National Park, which’s home to endangered mountain gorillas. Upon reaching the park attend a briefing by park authorities. Be assigned to a gorilla group. begin on a trekking experience alongside guides and trackers through lush forests as you follow gorilla trails until you come face to face with these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Spend a hour observing their behaviors, interactions and capturing photographs. After the trek return to your lodge for deserved rest. Reflect on this once, in a lifetime encounter.
Day 3; Exploring Volcanoes National Park. Golden Monkey Trek and Cultural Immersion
Start your day with a breakfast before begining on an exciting adventure, in Volcanoes National Park. Enter the forest to experience the captivating monkey trek. These mischievous primates are native to the Albertine Rift. Observing them frolic about is a delight. Traverse through the forest following their movements and relish a hour in their company.
In the afternoon dive into the culture by visiting a neighboring village. After savoring a breakfast depart from Volcanoes National Park and begin on a tour to Akagera National Park situated in eastern Rwanda. Akagera boasts an ecosystem that encompasses savannahs, wetlands and lakes – offering a safari experience.
Prepare for an exciting wildlife safari in Akagera as you search for creatures such as elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras antelopes along, with a plethora of birdlife. Immerse yourself in natures beauty as you witness these animals thriving in their habitat.
Discover the habitats of the park through game drives accompanied by knowledgeable guides who will share their insights, about the plants and animals. Indulge in a picnic lunch amidst the landscapes that surround the park.
As evening approaches settle into your lodge or camp nestled within or nearby Akagera National Park, where you can relish a dinner and enjoy an overnight stay.
Day 5; Akagera National Park. Boat Safari and Farewell
Start your day with a breakfast before begining on an unforgettable boat safari on Lake Ihema, which happens to be the lake in Akagera National Park. Cruise along its shores observing hippos, crocodiles and an array of water birds. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the lake while witnessing wildlife encounters from a vantage point.
After this captivating boat experience bid farewell to Akagera National Park. Begin your tour back to Kigali. If time permits, consider visiting the Genocide Memorial Museum in Kigali to gain insights into Rwandas past and witness its reconciliation efforts. In the evening you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your onward travels marking an end to your adventure, in Rwanda.
