Day 1; Arrival, in Kigali and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
When you arrive at Kigali International Airport our representative will be there to warmly welcome you and help with all the arrangements. From Kigali we’ll take a drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which is situated in the part of Rwanda. Along the way you can enjoy the landscapes that unfold before you. Once we reach the park you’ll check into your lodge. Have some time to unwind and settle in. In the evening join us for a dinner where we’ll provide a briefing on whats coming exciting chimpanzee trekking experiences!
Day 2; Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest
These two days are about engaging yourself in thrilling chimpanzee trekking adventures within Nyungwe Forest National Park. After a breakfast expert guides and trackers will accompany you as we begin on a quest to find habituated chimpanzee groups. We’ll trek through the forest while listening carefully to the sounds surrounding us and following their trails.
Once we locate one of these primate groups prepare yourself for a hour spent observing their behaviors, interactions and maybe even hearing their distinctive calls. Our knowledgeable guide will share insights, about their lifestyle, social structure and ongoing conservation efforts aimed at protecting these endangered species.
Apart, from chimpanzee trekking Nyungwe Forest offers a variety of activities to explore the parks ecosystem. You can enjoy leisurely nature walks along trails spot fascinating primate species like colobus monkeys and golden monkeys engage in birdwatching to discover the parks birdlife and experience breathtaking views from atop the Canopy Walkway, which stretches above the forest.
At the end of each days adventures you can. Enjoy dinner at your lodge surrounded by the peacefulness of the forest.
Day 3; Leaving Nyungwe Forest National Park
After a breakfast it will be time to bid farewell to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will be transferred back to Kigali where you’ll have an opportunity to explore the city or visit sites and markets depending on your departure time. If there is time you may even opt for a city tour that includes a visit to the Genocide Memorial Center—a place that offers a poignant glimpse into Rwandas history.
Lastly you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your tour, with memories of your thrilling chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest.
