10 Days Uganda Safari For Seniors

10 Days Uganda Chimpanzee

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative from our company will be there to greet you, assist with your luggage, and transfer you to your hotel. As many senior travelers appreciate an easy beginning, the afternoon will be open for rest. Depending on your arrival time, you may take a gentle walk in the botanical gardens or enjoy time by the shores of Lake Victoria. Dinner will be served at your hotel, followed by a calm evening. Overnight in Entebbe.

Day 2: Easy Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

After a full breakfast, depart Entebbe by mid-morning, heading to Lake Mburo National Park through scenic countryside. Lunch will be enjoyed during a stop in Masaka town or at the equator crossing, where there’s time to stretch, take pictures, and browse handmade items. You’ll reach your lodge by late afternoon. In the evening, take a short wildlife viewing drive, ideal for spotting zebras, giraffes, impalas, and elands. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest. Overnight near or inside Lake Mburo.

Day 3: Discover Lake Mburo National Park

Wake up to bird calls and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. The morning features a calm boat outing on Lake Mburo, perfect for senior travelers, where you may see hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birds. After lunch at the lodge, join a wildlife drive or opt for a guided walk within safe zones of the park. The evening is yours to unwind at the lodge with dinner. Overnight near Lake Mburo.

Day 4: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, begin your drive towards the southwest, heading to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The day includes rest stops and a picnic-style lunch. You’ll pass through rolling hills and traditional communities along the way. Arrive at your lodge by late afternoon and take time to settle in and enjoy the cool forest surroundings. Dinner will be followed by a briefing in preparation for the next day’s gorilla tracking activity. Overnight in Bwindi.

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking Excursion

Following an early breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters for a thorough orientation. Gorilla tracking is a major highlight of the trip. Porters and walking sticks are available to support senior travelers, and the pace is adjusted to suit everyone’s abilities. Once the gorilla group is located, you will have one full hour to observe them in their natural setting. Return to the lodge for rest, warm showers, and a well-earned dinner. Overnight in Bwindi.

Day 6: Rest Day, Second Gorilla Trek, or Lake Bunyonyi Visit

This day is flexible and can be shaped to your personal interest:

  • Second Gorilla Trek: For those eager to meet another group of gorillas.
  • Lodge Relaxation: Enjoy time at your accommodation with light activities such as reading, gentle strolls, or appreciating the forest views.
  • Lake Bunyonyi Visit: Take a drive to Lake Bunyonyi, a calm highland lake dotted with small islands. You may go for a boat outing or relax by the lakeshore.

Dinner and overnight either in Bwindi or at Lake Bunyonyi, based on your chosen activity.

Day 7: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you’ll head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited wildlife reserve. The route takes you through the picturesque landscapes of Kigezi and the Ishasha area, where you might spot lions resting in trees. Breaks are planned for photos and relaxation. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and enjoy some downtime before dinner. Overnight in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 8: Wildlife Viewing and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip

Start your morning with a relaxed game drive on the Kasenyi plains, where animals such as elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and possibly lions can be seen. Return to your lodge for breakfast and a bit of rest. After lunch, enjoy a laid-back boat excursion along the Kazinga Channel, a favorite activity among senior guests, where you can observe hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and many bird species at close range. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Trek in Kyambura Gorge & Afternoon Rest

After breakfast, head to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking. This activity is typically easier than gorilla trekking but offers a meaningful chance to observe primates in their habitat. For those who prefer not to walk, a scenic drive around crater lakes is a great alternative. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the lodge, possibly with optional cultural performances or spa services if available. Overnight in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 10: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. The return includes stops at the equator crossing for lunch and photo opportunities. Depending on your schedule, you may either spend the night in Entebbe or proceed directly to the airport for your international flight. For a smoother end to the trip, a domestic flight from Mweya or Kasese to Entebbe is also available. End of tour.
