Day 1; Arrival in Tanzania

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be warmly. Transferred to your accommodation in Moshi. There you’ll receive a briefing. Have a gear check with your guide. Make sure you get a nights rest before begining on this tour.

Day 2; Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Elevation; From 2100m, to 2650m
Distance; 6 km
Hiking time; Around 3 4 hours

On this day you will be driven from your hotel to the Londorossi Park Gate. There you will complete the registration procedures before heading towards the trailhead. The trek begins in the rainforest where you might have the opportunity to spot wildlife species and birds along the way. Eventually it culminates at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp.

Day 3; Mti Mkubwa Camp, to Shira Camp 2

Elevation; From 2650m to 3850m
Distance; Covering a distance of 16.5 kilometers
Hiking duration; Expect the hike to last around 6 to 8 hours

Once you’ve had breakfast bid farewell to the rainforest as you venture into the moorland. Traverse across the Shira Plateau adorned with lava flows and relish in breathtaking vistas of Kibo and Shira peaks before reaching Shira Camp 2.

Day 4; Shira Camp 2 to Lava Tower to Moir Hut

Elevation; From 3850m up to Lava Tower at an altitude of about 4600m descending down to Moir Hut at around 4200m.
Distance; Expect a distance of approximately 12 kilometers
Hiking duration; The hike is estimated to take about 5 to7 hours

Continue your eastward tour towards Kibos glaciered peak and ascend towards the Lava Tower for acclimatization purposes. Following that descend towards Moir Hut. This approach of “climb sleep is beneficial for proper acclimatization.

Day5; Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp

Elevation; Descending from an altitude of approximately4200m to around4000m.
Distance; Covering a distance of roughly12 kilometers.
Hiking duration; Expect this trekking legto last for about5to7hours.

begin on your trek as you leave behind the moorland terrain and transition, into the alpine desert zone. Descend into the saddle nestled between Mawenzi and Kibo until you reach Buffalo Camp. This trek presents awe inspiring views of Kibo.

Day 6; Buffalo Camp, to Rongai Third Cave

Changing altitude from 4000m to 3800m
Covering a distance of 8 km
Estimated hiking time of 5 7 hours

The trail continues eastward gradually descending along the slopes. Take in the flora and breathtaking landscapes as you make your way towards Rongai Third Cave.

Day 7; Rongai Third Cave to School Hut

Changing altitude from 3800m to 4800m
Covering a distance of 15 km
Estimated hiking time of 4 5 hours

Continue your ascent towards School Hut. Once you reach this point your guide will provide you with information for the summit night. Remember to stay hydrated and get some rest.

Day 8; School Hut to Uhuru Peak down to Millennium Camp

Changing altitude from 4800m up to the point at Uhuru Peak (5895m) and then descending down to an altitude of 3790m
Climbing a distance of approximately 6 km upwards and covering around10.5 km while descending
Estimated climbing time is around6 8 hours for the ascent and about4 6 hours for the descent

Your trek will commence at midnight. Equipped with headlamps and torches you’ll make your way up towards Gillmans Point on the crater rim. From there continue trekking around the crater until you reach Uhuru Peak, which stands as the point, in Africa.
After celebrating your accomplishment you will make your way down, to Millennium Camp.

Day 9; Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate back to Moshi

Altitude; From 3790m to 1650m
Distance; Approximately 12 km
Hiking time; 4 5 hours

Following breakfast you will descend through the rainforest towards Mweka Gate. At the park gate you will complete the formalities receive your deserved summit certificates and then be driven back to your hotel in Moshi.

Day 10; Departure

Depending on your flight schedule and departure arrangements you will be transferred to the airport for your tour continuation of your travel plans. You may also consider exploring attractions in Tanzania or enjoying some relaxation time on the beaches of Zanzibar.

The Northern Circuit Route is renowned for its vistas, from both the west and east sides.
