10 Days Birding Adventure Uganda

Day 1; Arrival, in Entebbe

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our friendly representative will be there to warmly greet you. They will assist you in transferring to your accommodation in Entebbe, where you can take some time to rest and unwind after your tour. If time permits you might even have the chance to explore the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, a spot for birdwatching enthusiasts. Enjoy a dinner. Spend the night in Entebbe.

Day 2; Exploring Mabamba Wetland and Lake Mburo National Park

Start your day with a breakfast before begining on an adventure to Mabamba Wetland, situated along the picturesque shores of Lake Victoria. Mabamba is renowned for its population of the Shoebill Stork well as a diverse array of other bird species. Hop into a canoe. Navigate through the areas while searching for the elusive Shoebill and other fascinating water loving birds like herons, kingfishers and jacanas.

In the afternoon continue your tour towards Lake Mburo National Park. Upon reaching your accommodation near the park entrance settle in. Take some time to appreciate the surroundings. You can also opt for a birding walk, around the lodge area, where you’ll have opportunities to spot bird species that call this park their home.

Day 3; Exploring the Birdlife at Lake Mburo National Park

Today is, about engaging yourself in the captivating world of birds at Lake Mburo National Park renowned for its avian diversity. You’ll have the opportunity to explore habitats, including savannahs, woodlands and wetlands that provide a haven for over 300 bird species. Keep an eye out for birds such as the African Finfoot, African Fish Eagle, Red faced Barbet Crested Francolin and many other fascinating species.

Enjoy a day dedicated to birdwatching activities guided by bird experts. They will assist you in spotting and identifying the array of birdlife within the park. As evening descends return to your lodge for a dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 4; touring to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following a breakfast begin on a drive towards Queen Elizabeth National Park – an absolute paradise for avid bird enthusiasts. The tour takes 3 4 hours. Offers breathtaking vistas along the way. Upon arrival at your accommodation near the park settle in before setting off on an afternoon birding expedition across habitats such as savannahs, wetlands and forests. Prepare to be amazed by over 600 species of birds that call Queen Elizabeth National Park home – including sightings like the Fish Eagle, African Skimmer Pink backed Pelican, among others.

Day 5; Birdwatching in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today dedicate the day to birdwatching in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Take the opportunity to explore parts of the park known for their bird diversity like the Mweya Peninsula, Ishasha sector and Kazinga Channel. Keep an eye out for raptors, waterbirds fascinating forest dwelling species and unique Albertine Rift endemics. Accompanied by a guide you’ll be able to identify bird species and gain intriguing insights, into their behavior and habitats.

In the evening experience a sunset game drive as you witness the wildlife of the park thriving in their surroundings. On head back to your lodge for a dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 6; Exploring Birds in Kibale Forest National Park

After enjoying a breakfast set off towards Kibale Forest National Park—a haven for both avid birdwatchers and primate enthusiasts alike. The drive will take 3 4 hours through landscapes along the way. Upon arrival at your accommodation near the park settle in. Make yourself comfortable.

In the afternoon begin on a walk through the forest alongside guides as you seek out its avian treasures. With over 370 bird species calling Kibale Forest home—including birds, like Green breasted Pitta, African Pitta, Great Blue Turaco—there will be plenty to discover. Explore serene trails while engaging yourself in birdsong and marvel at the hues adorning their plumage.

Day 7; Explore the wonders of Kibale Forest with a chimpanzee trekking experience.

Start your day with a breakfast and a briefing, from the park rangers. Venture into the forest to witness these primates in their habitat while also keeping an eye out for the diverse bird species that call this forest home.

After the chimpanzee trek take some time to indulge in birding activities within Kibale Forest. Your knowledgeable guide will assist you in identifying bird species like the African Grey Parrot, Narina Trogon Olive Long tailed Cuckoo and many others. Conclude your day by returning to your lodge for a dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 8; Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Birding

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a sanctuary for mountain gorillas and an ideal destination for birders. After enjoying a breakfast begin on a drive lasting approximately 4 5 hours to reach Bwindi. Along the way soak in views that will leave you captivated.

Upon arrival at Bwindi settle into your accommodation situated near the park. In the afternoon join experienced guides on a captivating birding walk through this enchanting forest. With, over 350 recorded bird species and 23 Albertine Rift endemics to discover Bwindi is truly a paradise waiting to be explored.
Make sure to keep an eye out for species, like the African Green Broadbill, Shelleys Crimsonwing and the African Emerald Cuckoo. You’ll have a dinner. Spend the night in Bwindi.

Day 9; Exploring Gorillas and Bird Watching in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today is the part of your birding tour. Exploring gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After a breakfast and receiving instructions from park rangers begin on your thrilling gorilla trekking experience. Venture through the forest following trails that lead to gorilla groups. When you find them cherish a hour observing their behavior and interactions.

After the trek continue bird watching in areas of Bwindi Forest known for their avian diversity. Your guide will assist you in identifying and spotting a variety of bird species including those inhabiting the parts of the forest. Return to your lodge for a deserved rest. In the evening take time to relax reminisce about your birding adventures and savor a farewell dinner.

Day 10; Depart from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest To Entebbe

Enjoy breakfast before bidding farewell to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as you start your tour back to Entebbe. Arrive at Entebbe in the afternoon or evening where you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your departure concluding your birding adventure, in Uganda.
