Day 1; Arrival, in Nairobi
Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you. Transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi. Take the rest of the day to unwind. Get ready for the trek ahead.
Day 2; Nairobi to Chogoria
From your hotel in Nairobi we will pick you up. Take you to the town of Chogoria. This scenic drive, lasting around 3 4 hours will give you a glimpse of the countryside. Spend the night at a lodge in Chogoria making preparations for tomorrows hike.
Day 3; Chogoria to Lake Ellis Campsite
begin on your hike from the forest gate gradually ascending through the enchanting bamboo forest and rosewood uplands until you reach Lake Ellis Campsite (3,500m). This approximately 4 5 hour trek offers a chance to spot elephants, graceful buffalos and other captivating wildlife.
Day 4; Lake Ellis to Minto’s Camp
Continue your ascent through valleys and moorlands towards Mintos Camp (4,300m). This thrilling tour spans around 6 7 hours. Rewards you with breathtaking vistas of peaks like Ithanguni well, as the awe inspiring Giants Billiards Table. Along the way don’t miss out on admiring the beauty of Lake Michaelson.
Day 5; From Mintos Camp to Point Lenana then descend to Chogoria Bandas
Rise, for a dawn ascent towards Point Lenana (4,985m). If the weather permits, witness a sunrise. Once you reach the summit make your way down to Chogoria Bandas (2,950m) for a dinner and an overnight stay. The descent offers views, including the Gorges Valley.
Day 6; From Chogoria Bandas to Nairobi
Enjoy breakfast before begining on a 2 3 hour trek to Chogoria town where your transfer vehicle awaits. Drive back to Nairobi as we conclude this Mount Kenya climbing adventure. Depending on your flight schedule there may be time for souvenir shopping before heading to the airport.
It is important to note that acclimatization is crucial for high altitude treks like this one and the climbs difficulty should not be underestimated. This expedition is best suited for individuals, with a fitness level and some prior trekking experience.
