Day 1; Arrival, in Nairobi
Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you. Transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi. You’ll have the rest of the day to relax and get ready for the trek that lies ahead.
Day 2; Nairobi to Gathiuru Forest
After enjoying a breakfast in Nairobi begin on a drive towards Gathiuru forest, where your trek will begin. This particular trail is less frequented offering a sense of solitude and opportunities to spot wildlife like elephants and buffaloes. Spend the night camping amidst the forest.
Day 3; Gathiuru Forest to Giant Bamboo Camp
The hike continues through bamboo forests and tropical vegetation until you reach the mesmerizing Giant Bamboo Camp at an altitude of 2,600 meters. The tour takes around 5 6 hours. Presents an abundance of plant life and wildlife encounters setting the stage for breathtaking landscapes at higher elevations.
Day 4; Giant Bamboo Camp to Highland Castle
Continue your adventure through enchanting forests and captivating moorland vistas as you ascend towards Highland Castle at an elevation of 3,750 meters. This area is renowned for its rock formations. Offers awe inspiring views of the magnificent Gorges Valley along, with surrounding peaks.
Day 5; Setting off from the Highland Castle we begin our hike, before dawn aiming to reach Point Lenana (4,985m) in time for a sunrise. Take in the view before making our way to Shiptons Camp (4,200m) where a delicious dinner awaits us and we’ll spend the night.
Day 6; After a breakfast we start our descent through Mackinders Valley towards the Naro Moru Park Gate. Our transfer vehicle will be waiting for us there to take us back to Nairobi marking the end of our Mount Kenya adventure. If time allows before your flight you might even have a chance to explore Nairobi or do some souvenir shopping.
Please keep in mind that acclimatization is crucial for this high altitude trek. The climb is. Should not be taken lightly. This package is recommended for individuals, with fitness levels and some prior trekking experience.
