Murchison Falls NP
Pabidi Lodge represents a significant new investment in the luxury segment of the Budongo Forest area, currently under construction within the Kaniyo Pabidi section of the Budongo Forest Reserve in the south of Murchison Falls National Park. When complete, it will occupy a position that no other luxury lodge currently holds: inside the Kaniyo Pabidi forest itself, offering guests direct access to the chimpanzee trekking experience in Uganda's second most important chimpanzee habitat from a base of genuine luxury comfort that the area has never previously had available.
The lodge will offer ten luxury tented rooms including eight standard rooms, one larger premium room, and a honeymoon suite. The accommodation will be designed to integrate with the forest environment while providing full luxury amenities including quality beds, en-suite bathrooms, and the in-room comforts expected at the luxury price level. A swimming pool, fire pit, minibars, laundry facilities, a restaurant, and a bar will form the core facilities, with a spa planned to complete the wellness offering as the lodge reaches full development.
The Kaniyo Pabidi forest that surrounds the lodge site is one of the most ecologically significant areas in Uganda. It forms the northeastern extension of the Budongo Forest Reserve, the largest single block of tropical forest in Uganda, and hosts Uganda's densest chimpanzee population, estimated at approximately 6.5 individuals per square kilometre. The forest also supports nine other primate species, 360 bird species including several Albertine Rift endemics, and 290 butterfly species. The biodiversity directly accessible from the lodge site is extraordinary, and the chimpanzee trekking experience available here is considered by many researchers and guides to be the most consistently successful in Uganda, second only to Kibale Forest in terms of habituation quality.
For travellers combining a Murchison Falls National Park game drive experience with the rare opportunity to trek chimpanzees in the Budongo Forest at a luxury standard, Pabidi Lodge will offer a combination currently available nowhere else in the northern circuit. The lodge is accessible as a 20-minute drive inside the main park gate, making it practical to combine Murchison wildlife drives, Nile boat cruises, and Budongo Forest chimpanzee trekking in a single lodge base. When fully open, it will represent one of the most exciting new luxury offerings in Uganda.
