Nile Safari Lodge

Nile Safari Lodge has achieved something rare in Uganda's tourism landscape: a property with a genuinely distinctive identity, a clear conservation mission, and an international reputation that has earned it the designation of Uganda's most sustainable hotel. The lodge is a family-owned and family-run enterprise, established in 2017 by a Ugandan family with a lifelong connection to the Murchison Falls area and a vision for creating something that would share the beauty of their home landscape with the world while protecting it for future generations. The lodge sits on 32 acres on the banks of the Victoria Nile within Murchison Falls National Park, 20 kilometres downstream from the falls themselves. Eight secluded luxury bandas are distributed through the riverine trees and shrubbery along the bank, each built from locally sourced materials including eucalyptus wood, local stone, and grass thatch in a design philosophy that prioritises environmental integration over visual statement. The bandas are spacious and beautifully finished, with thatched roofs providing natural cooling, private viewing decks furnished with swing chairs and deck chairs overlooking the river, indoor and outdoor showers, and generous comfortable beds with mosquito nets. The exclusive banda adds a private plunge pool and daybed for couples seeking maximum privacy, and the family villa provides a two-bedroom configuration with its own swimming pool and private outdoor terrace overlooking the Shoebill Peninsula.

Water from the Nile is filtered for drinking throughout the lodge. Solar power runs the refrigeration and lighting. The architecture uses only locally sourced materials and local craftsmanship.
