17 Days Birding Tour Tanzania

Day 1; Arrival, in Arusha

When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Tanzania our representative will warmly greet you. Transfer you to your accommodation. Take some time to relax and get used to the surroundings.

Day 2 – 3; Exploring Arusha National Park

Kickstart your birdwatching adventure by visiting Arusha National Park, which is situated near the city of Arusha. Discover the parks landscapes, including mountain forests, grasslands and Momella Lakes that attract a variety of bird species. Keep an eye out for birds like the Hartlaubs Turaco, Fish Eagle and the rare Schalows Turaco. Enjoy guided walks and exciting game drives as you search for the parks feathered inhabitants.

Day 4 – 5; Discovering Tarangire National Park

Set off on a tour to Tarangire National Park renowned for its elephant herds and rich birdlife. Spend two days exploring the parks habitats such as the Tarangire River and expansive grasslands. Look out for captivating species like the Yellow collared Lovebird, Kori Bustard and the beautiful Lilac breasted Roller. Additionally Tarangire is a location to spot raptors such, as the Bateleur Eagle and Martial Eagle.
Days 6 8; Make your way to Lake Manyara National Park, which’s well known for its variety of bird species and the unique phenomenon of lions climbing trees. Take three days to explore the parks habitats, including the lake, beautiful woodlands and wide open grasslands. Keep an eye out for birds, like the Pink backed Pelican, African Spoonbill and Yellow billed Stork. Lake Manyara is also famous for its flourishing flamingo populations making it an ideal spot for bird enthusiasts.

Days 9 – 11; begin on a tour to Serengeti National Park

While this park is renowned for its mammals and the awe inspiring Great Migration spectacle it also boasts a diversity of birdlife. Spend three days engaging yourself in the savannahs enchanting acacia woodlands and serene riverine areas as you keep an eye out for bird species such, as the Secretary Bird, Kori Bustard and Lilac breasted Roller. The Serengeti offers opportunities to appreciate a plethora of wonders.

Days 12 – 14; Explore the Ngorongoro Conservation Area

UNESCO World Heritage Site that encompasses the iconic Ngorongoro Crater. Set aside three days to discover the areas habitats including the mesmerizing crater floor captivating highland forests and expansive grasslands.Make sure to keep an eye out for bird species, like the Grey Crowned Crane, African Jacana and the Greater Flamingo. You’ll be amazed by the scenery and the abundance of wildlife that awaits you at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 15 – 16; Explore Pemba Island

Take a flight to Pemba Island, a paradise located off the coast of Tanzania. Spend two days engaging yourself in the islands birdlife, including species like the Pemba Green Pigeon, Pemba Scops Owl and the Pemba White eye. Relax with strolls along beaches and through lush forests as you search for unique bird species and soak up the peaceful ambiance.

Day 17; Departure

After a breakfast it’s time to say goodbye to Tanzania. Make your way back to mainland Tanzania. Head towards the airport, for your departure.
