Day 1; Arrival, in Nairobi
Upon your arrival at Nairobis Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you. They will then transfer you to your accommodation, where you can take some time to rest and get accustomed to the surroundings.
Day 2; Exploring Nairobi National Park and its Environs
begin on a birdwatching adventure by visiting the Nairobi National Park. This incredible park boasts a variety of habitats, including grasslands, wetlands and acacia woodlands, which’re home to over 500 species of birds. Keep an eye out for birds like the Secretary Bird, Martial Eagle and the endangered African Crowned Crane. Afterward make sure to visit birding spots in the Nairobi area like the Nairobi National Museum or the Nairobi National Botanic Garden.
Day 3 – 4; Discovering Lake Naivasha
Head towards Lake Naivasha, a stunning freshwater lake nestled in the Great Rift Valley that offers a haven for bird enthusiasts. Spend two days exploring both the lake itself and its surrounding areas. begin on a boat safari across the waters of Lake Naivasha where you’ll have opportunities to spot various waterbirds such as the African Fish Eagle, Grey headed Gull and Great White Pelican. Don’t miss out on exploring attractions like Crescent Island or Hells Gate National Park renowned, for their array of bird species.
Make sure you keep an eye out for some bird species during your trip, such, as the African Jacana, Malachite Kingfisher and the African Fish Eagle.
Days 5 – 6; Explore Lake Nakuru National Park
Head over to Lake Nakuru National Park, which’s famous for its flamingos and diverse range of bird species. Take some game drives around the lake to spot flamingos, pelicans and other waterbirds. Keep an eye out for the endangered Rothschilds Giraffe and the elusive African Leopard. You’ll also come across birds like the Marabou Stork Yellow billed Stork and Verreauxs Eagle. Spend two days exploring birding spots in this park.
Days 7 – 9; Visit Maasai Mara National Reserve
Wrap up your birdwatching adventure with a visit to the world renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve. While its mostly known for its wildlife it’s also a place for bird enthusiasts. Spend three days exploring the reserve and going on game drives in search of raptors, grassland species and wetland birds. Look out for birds, like the Secretary Bird, Kori Bustard and Lilac breasted Roller. The Mara River is also teeming with waterbirds; a great opportunity to observe them in their habitat.. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the wildebeest and zebra migration!
On the day of your trip it’s time to say goodbye to Kenya. Enjoy your breakfast. Then get ready to head to Nairobi. If you have some time, before your flight you can use it for birdwatching or shopping for souvenirs. Our representative will be there to take you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure.
