Tanzania is getting more and more exposure and opportunities to market itself as a perfect tourist destination. Come May through to October of this year, over 500 Tanzania are expected to participate in Expo Milan 2015, set to be held in Italy of course.
In a short briefing Ms. Jacqueline Maleko the director general of the Tanzania trade development authority reiterated that the Milan expo would be good for Tanzania’s tourism industry. She said that the expo would run for 6 months and called upon different companies and the various government bodies to support and encourage Tanzanians to participate in the expo. She encouraged the young populations especially university to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the expo and learn something new.
The expo is an opportunity to exhibit and market everything that makes Tanzania the amazing home and tourist destination. Tourist attritions such as national parks, historical sites , hotels and resorts, produce such as cloves, vanilla, coffee, tea, vegetables, minerals, and gas as well.
Italian Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Luigi Scotto, said the Expo Milan 2015 would be the largest worldwide event ever organised to unite countries, institutions, companies and citizens to discuss and discover issues related to the availability of safe, nutritious, sufficient food, traditions and culture of food. Over 20 million people are expected to visit Italy for the expo.

About 147 countries are expected to participate under different umbrellas or clusters. Tanzania will participate in the “spice” clusters. Giving it a chance to market the various spices produced both on the mainland and in Zanzibar. Tanzania’s theme will be “ Experience Tanzania Culture through Food and spice”.
Tanzania will also be participating in the ITB expo this month still in a bid to promote trade and tourism.
Tanzania is determined to become Africa’s tourist hub and taking advantage of all these opportunities to increase publicity and market what it has to offer is definitely a step in the right direction.
